Alba Power operates a purpose-built UK-based, gas turbine engine test facility which features a state-of-the-art Allen Bradley digital control system.
The engine test bed is fully configured for both Avon and Olympus turbine engines, and features innovative quick-fit mounting frames designed by Alba Power to accelerate the test process.
The test bed facility also includes other technical innovations developed by Alba Power. The start process is driven by a silent on-engine electric starter which makes for a smoother warm-up cycle than when conventional battery-driven starters are used.
The digital turbine control system includes self-documenting software to capture large amounts of raw data from the engine test parameters in order to generate a comprehensive test report summary.
Other prominent features of the engine test bed include:
- a fully-automated off-engine fuel control system
- full video recording of testing on a range of media including VHS and DVD
- a fuel storage capacity of 30,000 gallons of Jet Al fuels permanently held in stock.
Alba Power's gas turbine testing is carried out in a fully-approved CAA test facility.
